Abstract
[From the editors:] What is happening in Russia? What are the sources of the crisis that afflicts it? Must we accept that we endured the reform years for nothing? The well-known Italian journalist Giulietto Chiesa sent this article to the editors of LG. His book Goodbye, Russia! harshly criticized the Russian government when it was published last year and elicited considerable interest (fragments from it were first published by our newspaper). One of the men directly involved in determining the course of the reforms and financial policy, Sergei Dubinin, until recently head of the Russian Central Bank, takes issue with the Italian journalist's conclusions.
