Abstract
Last summer, plans were announced for a program to modernize Russian education. Those in charge of the authors of the plan to revise secondary-school and higher education are Minister of Education Vladimir Filippov and Rector Iaroslav Kuz'minov of the Higher Economics School. Komsomol'skaia pravda has reported in considerable detail on the changes envisioned for secondary schools. We know less about what will happen to higher education, but the reforms will affect more than four million students and almost a million teachers.
