Abstract
On 18 December 2000, a session of the Committee of Legal Affairs and Human Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe was held in Paris. The session examined, among other things, the situation in the Chechen Republic. Oleg Orlov, chairman of the Council of the Legal Defense Center "Memorial," was invited to speak as an expert.
