Abstract
The articles in this issue examine the nature of Russia's political system. They focus on the establishment of a system of personal control by the political leadership, which has largely eliminated the role of formal state institutions. The authors argue that such a system is unsustainable in the long run and will lead Russia to a crisis of governance.
