Abstract

In 2005, mainly in reaction to the Orange Revolution in Ukraine, the Putin regime initiated a shift in the Russian political system from classical authoritarianism to a new type of authoritarianism with paratotalitarian features, accompanied by an intensified anti-Western official discourse that has had a significant impact on Russian public opinion.
