Abstract
To estimate the standing crop of the herbaceous layer for the study area with a disc pasture meter, it was necessary to calibrate the instrument. This was done for the OI Choro Oiroua area in the Masai Mara region of Kenya where no such data previously existed. The calibration data were analysed using a simple linear regression analysis, which gave a significant correlation between the square-root transformation of the mean disc height and the standing crop.
