Abstract
Eight women of proven fertility received from 1–3 monthly injections each of Deladroxate®, a longacting oestrogen-progestogen agent. The injections were administered on day 8 in the cycle, counted from first day of bleeding. Laparotomy with biopsies from both ovaries was performed on day 17–32 in the last treatment cycle. In 6 cases endometrial biopsies were also obtained. The numbers of primordial and secondary follicles were roughly estimated as normal. Maturing or mature follicles and follicular cysts were found in 5 of the patients. In one patient (with only one injection prior to laparotomy) a fresh corpus luteum was found. In one patient a slight degree of capsular fibrosis was seen, but stromal fibrosis was not seen in any case. Of the 6 endometrial biopsies obtained, 4 were of the secretory type, one was of the mixed phase type, and one was proliferative.
