Abstract
In vol. XIX no. 3, Acta O. L., N. R h. Blegvad has published an article called →Tubar occlusion or catarrh of the middle ear→. He there gives an analysis and critic of a paper published by Lennart Holmgren in vol. XVIII no. 6 on →Experimental tubar occlusion→. That paper clearly demonstrated the effect of hermetic tubar occlusion, i. e. negative pressure and non-inflammatory transsudaticn in the middle ear, all according to Politzer-Zaufal's well-known theory, which has been confirmed by more and more authors. That theory is ultimately the object of Blegvad's attack, and it is regrettable that he has not been advised by the almost unanimous critic following one of his earlier attempts to attack the Politzer-Zaufal theory (North. Otol. Congress Stockholm 1930, published in vol. XVI, Acta 0. L.). During the following years he has not been able to produce any new points of view, nor has he made any experiments which might support his own speculatins.
