A New Technique for Vestibular Investigation

Pages 594-596 | Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

In the Bárány test and in all the other similar methods of vestibular rotatory stimulation the nystagmic reaction is obtained by a sudden stop of the rotation, at different speeds. According to our knowledge on the cupular mechanism since the experiments of Steinhausen, Dohlman and others, the excitation of the cupula in a rotating movement results from the acceleration or deceleration of the rotation only.
