Abstract

With the usual hard earmould made of Kalden (I.C.I.) it has not always been possible to get a safe acoustic seal between the walls of the ear canal and the insert and then the sound pressure is not totally transmitted from the receiver to the organ of hearing.

With a patient requiring large amplification it happens that amplified sound leaks out, thus causing acoustic feedback; this gives rise to a whistling sound which is both annoying and interfering with speech reception.
