Abstract

A case of severe tracheobronchitis was treated with positive pressure ventilation in addition to the usual methods of treatment. Twenty-two cases of severe acute infection in the air passages are reviewed, and on the basis of previous poor results and the successful outcome in the case reported, it is suggested that positive pressure breathing should be considered, in addition to the methods of treating acute, severe laryngotracheobronchitis which already exist.
