Oesophageal Motility: A New Method of Examination

Abstract

A new method has been developed. Manometric records of the swallowing complex have been obtained and temperatures have been measured simultaneously at different levels within the oesophagus. By recording the cooling effect of the bolus, the rate of progress of the bolus can be recorded. The method is simple and the apparatuses are of standard types.
