Speech Audiometry in Persons with Brain Damage

Pages 272-276 | Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

One hundred patients suffering from brain atrophy were subjected to pure tone, routine and special speech audiometry. No more than 35 met the criteria set for the study. Routine speech audiometry showed no great abnormality. By high-tone cut-offs, however, their scores were decidedly subnormal. Authors stress the importance of this finding for the evaluation of compensation cases.
