Observed and Calculated Hearing Loss for Speech in Noise-Induced Deafness

Pages 277-281 | Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

Forty-nine ears with noise-induced hearing loss were tested with pure-tone and speech audiometry. Hearing loss for speech was calculated from pure-tone audiometric findings by means of the A.M.A., Harris and Wisconsin methods. Calculated values differed so much from the observed that the methods have proved invalid in occupational hearing loss.
