Abstract
The saccular nerve was resected at the exit of the labyrinthine bony capsule in the rabbit, and the eye movement was observed by changing the head to various positions. Our conclusions are: (1) The compensatory deviation of eyeballs is a functional manifestation of the saccule. (2) When pressure is applied by the otolith to the saccular macula the nystagmus to the same side is found inhibited.
