Vitamin a as a Means of Reducing Industrial Deafness

Pages 321-325 | Received 01 Aug 1960, Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

On two groups of loom operators, normally exposed to a noise intensity of 97-101 db, the hearing threshold was determined before and after supply of large doses of vitamin A. The examination was performed as a double blind test. No difference could be detected between the test and control groups, and it may be concluded that under the conditions of this study large doses of vitamin A provide no protection against hearing impairment due to noise.
