Malignant Tumors of the Pharyngo-Tonsillar Region A Study of Forty-two Cases

Abstract

This work is based on the case material of malignant tumors of the pharyngotonsillar region admitted to the ENT Department of the University of Turin, from the 1st of January, 1951, till the 31st of December, 1955. This material includes 30 cases of carcinoma and 12 cases of reticulo-sarcoma.

The authors illustrate the anatomo-clinical and anatomo-pathological classification of these neoplasiae, and discuss the clinical elements on which the therapeutic method is based.

They illustrate the results achieved with reference to the clinical characters of the different types of neoplasia and with reference to the therapeutic methods that have been followed.

Finally they state some general considerations drawn from the study of their case material.
