Abstract
An account is given of a series of operations performed by Hirsch's method for hypophysectomy modified in that the columella was transected at the point of transition to the upper lip and turned aside. This afforded a possibility of operating in the exact midline and gave considerably more space for the operation. A speculum is described, which has been constructed specially for this method.
