Abstract
A brief description is given of peroral biopsy in diseases in the bodies of the cervical vertebrae. Christiansen's trephine is recommended as superior to an ordinary cannula, because the cylinder of tissue is larger and the microscopic diagnosis therefore more exact.
Next the history is given of a patient in whom a pathological fracture of the body of the axis occurred in relation to manipulation treatment by a chiropractor. A diagnosis of giant cell tumour was made on the basis of peroral aspiration biopsy from the body of the axis.
