Abstract
In cases with congenital microtia and meatal atresia the authors have reconstructed the auditory canal and achieved a firm hold for the prosthetic ear in the following way.
The cartilage in the rudimentary auricle was removed and the remaining skin sac pushed in and tamped against the walls of a newly established external meatus (attico-anthrotomy). In a later session a bone transplant was used to form, over the canal opening, a skin-covered bridge whose purpose is to provide a hold for the prosthetic ear.
