Frequency Meter for Nystagmus Analysis

Abstract

Vestibular testing aims to express vestibular sensitivity. Sensory organ sensitivity has not one but several characteristics. In addition to nystagmus duration, the culmination of the nystagmus frequency during the reaction and the frequency pattern behavior is obtainable by means of nystag-mography. The above properties of the reactive or spontaneous vestibular nystagmus can be made readily accessible by the use of a simple frequency analyzer. The computer signals all the nystagmic events in successive 5 sec time units. Also directional preponderance and preponderance of frequency can be visualized automatically.
