Abstract
C-reactive protein (CRP) was determined in 819 patients suffering from various otolaryngological diseases. The test for CRP was positive in 117 cases and negative in 702. The highest frequency of positive tests, 93 per cent, was obtained in acute peritonsillitis. The results in this study support earlier reports in general; chronic suppurative otitis media with or without cholesteatoma showed a surprisingly low incidence of positive tests, 2 per cent.
