Abstract

The Mecholyl test and noradrenalin test were administered on 21 patients suffering from vertiginous diseases in order to clarify its relation to the functional activities of the central autonomic nervous system. The patients with vertigo showed a common tendency to the hypofunction of the sympathetic center and the hypcrfunction of the parasympathetic center in the hypothalamus. Both the Mecholyl curve and the noradrenalin curve in almost all the patients with vertigo showed each particular type, to which the authors gave the name of “vertigo type”. The Mecholyl test results were improved by means of adequate treatment, whereas no significant change was found in the noradrenalin test results.
