Biochemical Studies on Copper, Copper Oxidase, Magnesium, Sulfur, Calcium and Phosphorus in Cancer of the Larynx

Abstract

In patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx the blood serum copper concentrations are very increased, and the copper oxidase activity falls with the normal range. The inorganic sulfur concentrations of the serum are increased, and the magnesium concentrations have normal values. Copper contents of the tumoral larynx tissues are very increased and magnesium contents are decreased. The calcium and phosphorus contents are similar in tumoral and normal tissues.

Bei Patienten mit Larynxkarzinom sind die Blutkonzcntrationen des Kupfers bcdeutend hölier und die Aktivität der Kapferoxidase steht auf normalen Werten. Die Serumkonzentrationen des inorganischen Schwefels zeigen höhere Wcrte an und die des Magnesiums sind normal. Der Kupfergehalt des tumoralen La-rynxgewebes ist wesentlich erhöht und der des Magnesiums steht unter den normalen Werten. Kalcium und Phosphorgehalte sind gleich in den normalen sowie audi in den tumoralen Geweben.
