Abstract
Results of the control examinations of patients after laryngectomy have been summarised. The examinations were performed within the period of 1–2 years after total laryngectomy with the alloplastic reinforcement of the oesophagus wall by implanted polyester net. Clinical survey was completed in 15 cases. Five patients died. Two of them were subjected to the post-mortem examination with routine microscopical assay of the net and surrounding tissues. Conclusions were drawn concerning the resistance of the plastic material, the mode of incorporation of the nets and the reaction of human tissues against the terital yarn.
