Morphology and Function of the Epithelium of the Limbus Spiralis Cochleae L. Voldřich

Pages 503-514 | Received 20 Jun 1966, Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

In the course of investigations on the interdental cells of the limbus spiralis some signs of secretory activity were found. This paper presents our observations by means of various methods. It was established that the interdental cells of the limbus form a water-clear secretion getting into the endolymphatic space of the membranous cochlea. The secretory activity of the cells is stimulated by pilocarpine. Simultaneously, some new information about the structure of the surface of the limbus and the limbic part of the membrana tectoria are described.
