Abstract
The stria vascularis of deaf Hedlund mink is atrophic and its vascular supply is abnormally sluggish. Its vascular pattern is simpler than normal because many normal connecting vessels disappear during maturation. Ferritin particles provide a convenient means of studying vascular transport by electron microscopy. Injected ferritin does not enter strial vessels in Hedlund mink. Intravascular clotting and endothelial swelling were observed in these vessels.
