Abstract
A technique for correction of congenitally prominent ears is described. The ear is brought into the natural position in relation to the head, and the anthelix and crura are reconstructed so that they appear well formed. The method utilizes the known spontaneous bending tendency of the auricular cartilage following scratching of the anterior surface of the cartilage. To bring the lower part of the ear and the lobe into the natural position, thinning of the cadua heli—cis and antitragus cartilage is used. The ear is kept in the desired position by using mattress sutures. A check—up of patients operated on by this method was performed.
