Ameloblastic Fibroma

Pages 302-306 | Received 05 Oct 1971, Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

The ameloblastic fibroma is a rare benign expansile mixed odontogenic tumour composed of mesenchymal and epithelial constituents. The highest incidence is in the first two decades of life. It is 3-4 times more common in the mandible than in the maxilla (Gorlin & Goldman, 1970). Simple excision or curettage is usually sufficient to effect complete cure. The lesion must be differentiated from ameloblastoma which it may resemble both clinically and radiologically. An ameloblastic fibroma in a newborn infant is described.
