Experience With A New Orotracheal Tube

Pages 389-390 | Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

A preshaped tube which conforms to the contour of the airway exerts less pressure against the posterior wall of the larynx than a conventional tube. Clinical evidence is presented which shows that lesions in the posterior part of the larynx are significantly less pronounced following prolonged orotracheal intubation with preshaped tubes than with conventional tubes.
