The Complications of CO2 Laser Surgery in Otolaryngology

Abstract

The CO2 laser has been widely adopted in otolaryngology, particularly for endolaryngeal surgery. It is a precise but dangerous tool which must be handled with caution. the fire, anaesthetic and machine hazards which have been reported, are reviewed, and appropriate precautions outlined. If appropriately handled, it is a significant addition to the surgical armamentarium.
