Tympanoplasty in Children—When? A Preliminary Report

Pages 199-201 | Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

The results of tympanoplasty in 169 children 15 years of age were evaluated one to four years after the operation, focusing on otomicroscopic signs of Eustachian tube dysfunction, i.e. re-perforations, retraction pockets and retraction cholesteatoma. Inferior results were obtained in the youngest children, in particular in the group < 7 years of age, and accordingly tympanoplasty should be postponed in this group.
