Abstract
173 ears treated with grommets for secretory otitis media were followed-up in 1978 and again in 1985, i.e. 11 1/2—14 1/2 years after the initial treatment. The results show deterioration of hearing impairment, progression of tympanic membrane changes and increase in the number of ears with chronic suppuration following the last treatment with grommets; cholesteatoma, however, was not encountered
