Sudden Deafness: An Investigation of Hearing Loss

Abstract

The expression ‘profound hearing loss’ used in the diagnostic criteria for sudden deafness should be changed to ‘moderate to profound hearing loss’. In clinical diagnosis, a 30-dB hearing loss at 1 kHz can be used as a tentative criterion for sudden deafness.
