Abstract

A 75-year-old woman on long term diuretic therapy presented with depression. She was found to have hyponatraemia and hypochloraemia. There was no improvement in her condition with antidepressant-medication but she responded promptly to cessation of spironolactone and prescription of potassium chloride.
