On the lag of lateralization caused by interaural time and intensity differences

Pages 265-270 | Published online: 07 Jul 2009

Abstract

Psychometric measurements with an 80-Hz pulse series signal showed that the lag of sound localization due to interaural intensity-differences is significantly smaller than the due to interaural time-difference.

These results seem to be contradictory to the hypothesis that the ear converts intensity-differences into time-differences before perceiving the direction of the sound sensation.
