Abstract

The osseous auditory mechanism of the fetus achieves maximum developments around the 6th month of intrauterine life, after which it maintains its dimensions until death. The infant hears, i. e., perceives, sounds during intrauterine life. In light of the above, congenital hearing loss may be divided into 3 phases: embryonic, fetal and perinatal.
