Abstract
When the normal hearing threshold of the cat as determined by behavioural audiometry are compared with the corresponding human hearing thresholds (free-field listening), it is seen that the cat is superior to man in the ability to hear not only a wider range of frequencies but also a lower absolute frequency intensity. The hearing threshold of the cat lie below those of man along the entire range of the tested audible frequencies, particularly in the region of the high frequencies. The frequencies tested were 0.125, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 and 16 kHz
