Abstract
In 42 patients with sudden deafness of unknown aetiology five lipid fractions were examined (cholesterol, triglycerides, free fatty acids, polysaturated fats and beta-lipoproteins). In 83, 5% of the patients the levels of these fractions were increased. The results suggested that hyperlipidaemia is perhaps a coexisting damaging factor in sudden deafness.
