Abstract

The long term effect of X-irradiation on the antigenic constitution of gastro-intestinal mucosa of mice and rats has been studied. Loss of gastric-specific, as well as gain of intestinal-specific antigens have been observed in the stomachs of animals that received 1000 rads in the stomach area. Carcinomas developed in four out of five rats that survived for 18 months after irradiation.
