Determination of Higher Fatty Acids in the Cerebrospinal Fluid by Gas-Chromatography

Abstract

Fatty acids from the cerebrospinal fluid are isolated, methylated and separated by gas-chromatography. The main part consists of C143, 16:1, 16:0, 18:1, 18:O and C22:6. A different pattern is demonstrated in one patient who probably has an active degeneration of the central nervous system. The necessaty of a high sensitivity is emphazised.
