Low Plasma Creatinine in Diabetic Subjects Free of Renal Disease

Abstract

Abnormally increased glomerular filtration rate has been found in short-term insulin-treated diabetic subjects.

Because of this finding the plasma concentration of creatinine in diabetics without evidence of renal disease was investigated. The mean values of both total and true creatinine of 63 male and female diabetics were found to be significantly lower than those in 123 healthy subjects of similar ages.
