Instrumental Design in Analysis of 14CO2 in Expired Air in Man

Abstract

An apparatus with two alternative flow systems for continuous determination of 14CO2, CO2, and O2, in expired air from human subjects is described. 14CO2 excretion has been determined by an ionization chamber, and CO2 excretion by a pCO2 electrode or by means of infrared absorption.

Some problems concerning clinical radiorespirometric investigation are discussed.
