Abstract
Abildgaard, U. Purification of Two Progressive Antithrombins of Human Plasma. Scand. J. clin. Lab. Invest. 19, 190-195, 1967. The progressive antithrombin activity of human plasma was separated by gel filtration as well as by gradient ultracentrifugation into a major and a minor fraction. Procedures for the further purification of these fractions are described.
The active protein in the minor fraction is an α-macroglobulin.
The major fraction accounted for 75 per cent of the plasmatic antithrombin activity, and all the heparin cofactor activity. The active protein is an α2-globulin with a molecular weight of about 64,000.
