Abstract

Öckerman, P. A. & Köhlin, P. Tissue Acid Hydrolase Activities in Gaucher's Disease. Scand. J. clin. Lab. Invest. 22, 62-64, 1968. The activities of seven acid hydrolases were measured in postmortem specimens from liver, spleen and brain and in biopsy specimens from liver in patients with Gaucher's disease.

A decrease of the activity of 4-methyl-umbelliferyl-β-glucosidase was seen in liver (biopsy and postmortem) and spleen. Markedly increased activities were noted in spleen for acid phosphatase, β-acetyl-glucosaminidase, α-glucuronidase and α-fucosidase. An increase was also seen in liver for β-acetyl-glucosaminidase, α-fucosidase and, possibly, for acid phosphatase and in brain for α-fucosidase.
