Abstract
Sixty patients, 30 with ST segment changes in the exercise ECG in 1956 (probands) and 30 without such changes (partners) were carefully examined in 1967. There were 4 deaths from myocardial infarction in the proband group and none among the partners. The probability of myocardial infection in the 11-year period was 3 times greater for the persons with a positive exercise test than with a negative one. A history of coronary heart disease and a positive ECG in 1967 were recorded for 15 probands while 5 of the partners had CHD (p< 0.05).
