A Flow-regulating Valve for Use in Respiratory Physiology

Pages 127-130 | Received 12 Feb 1969, Accepted 09 Jun 1969, Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

A flow-regulating valve is described. It can keep the air flow constant at a desired rate, even if the feeding pressure varies from 3 to 70 cm H2O. It can also be used as a solenoid operated shutter. Square flow waves can be obtained if the shutter is intermittently opened during, e.g., a continuous breathing effort against the valve.
