Abstract
A procedure for separation of hydroxyproline-containing fractions in blood serum by Sephadex G-200 ® is described and applied to human serum. The major part of the serum hydroxyproline is a part of, and not only associated with, the protein fractions. The pattern of distribution seemed to be fairly uniform in a limited number of healthy volunteers. Studies of this distribution pattern might be useful in the investigation of the collagen metabolism in certain disorders and drug treatments.
