Abstract
High triglyceride levels in a patient with spinal myelopathy were easily normalized by fat-restricted diet. There was no abnormal response to high carbohydrate diet. Serum lipoprotein lipase activity was stimulated by heparin. Lipid particles in electrophoresis and polyvinylpyrrolidon gradient column behaved like very low density lipoproteins. The case does not fit in any of the phenotypes of Fredrickson and Lees' classification. Possible correlation between hyperlipemia and spinal myelopathy is discussed by making a comparison with a previously reported case.
