Abstract

After carbamylation of unpurified hemolysates, the human carbonic anhydrases B and C may be determined by electrophoresis in antibody containing agarose. With the technique used no drop in antigen-antibody combining power is seen. The day to day reproducibility in terms of coefficient of variation was 2.8 % for CA B and 5.5 % for CA C. The blood concentration of CA B and CA C was determined in 109 healthy subjects. The 95 % range was 3.39–6.39 g/1 erythrocytes for CA B and 0.46–0.74 g/1 erythrocytes for CA C.
